Research trip in Fort McMurray, Alberta, flying to different sampling locations in search of novel hydrocarbon degrading bacteria

I grew up in Barrie, Ontario, frequently travelling and camping with my family from a young age. Watching my dad snap photos throughout my childhood, and seeing his old nature photographs throughout the house ignited my own full blown passion for photography today. Today I live with my wife and two little kids in Windsor, Ontario.

My other passion is environmental science. I am a PhD Candidate at the Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research at the University of Windsor, Ontario. My studies revolve around how microbes break down contaminants and potentially how they can bring environment back to a natural, sustainable equilibrium. My research travels allows me to maintain my passion for photography, allowing me to photograph and document a variety of our research sites . He enjoys the artistic challenge of photography, finding the right composition, the right light and the right subject, and strives to keep a striking yet realistic feel to his photos.

Tom's photographic interests include landscapes, candid kids portraits, travel photography and really anything that captures my interest.
